TIP INSPIRATION There was a lift on unnecessary store closures this week in my area. Nearby retailers can have open-air store setups. While this is exciting news in so many ways, it made me think about how we could keep our emissions down while being able to shop locally again. Combining errands seems like a good first option. I want to think of more. Of course, there is riding a bike rather than driving a car, but that seemed too obvious. I like to think you're here for creative ideas. From subscribers on yesterday's tip: Ann C How about No amazon?! Support small business I own a store in brooklyn & it's killing me, and all of us in the small biz community that Amazon & big box stores are open and we cannot be. I really urge you to not promote amazon In ANY way, it is the death of small business in many ways. Lorna P You should not even use Amazon. You can get things other ways. I do. TWW Reply Definitely. I sent out a newsletter prior to this one suggesting we call local stores before buying anywhere else. I like to cover all possibilities and levels of sustainable practices to be inclusive of all subscribers and their circumstances. I'll include your note in From the Community, though, just to remind everyone to shop locally first. Thanks! James L One of the easiest, and most powerful mindset shifts. Thanks! TWW Reply So glad it was helpful. Thanks for the feedback. Not many people realize used is an option. Don't forget the tip to call local stores before buying online too! |
